‘Embrace the Local.’ is the official motto of the Twain Harte Area Chamber of Commerce (THCC). We’re guided by the principle behind those three simple words — our businesses and our communities sit at the heart of every choice we make.

It’s not just a warm fuzzy slogan, it’s a mindset. It’s also our North Star…

…We prioritize local businesses, makers, and services in everything we do.

…We design events, campaigns, and programs that keep dollars, attention, and opportunities in our service area.

…We invite residents and visitors to make small, everyday choices that add up to a stronger local economy.

For businesses, #EmbraceTheLocal is a promise and a challenge.

Promise:

The Chamber will work to increase visibility for local businesses and makers.

We will celebrate and promote the stories behind our shops, services, and home-based ventures.

We’ll look for ways to make it easier to do business here — through networking, information, collaboration, and a unified voice.

Challenge:

Show up for your neighbors the way you want them to show up for you.

Partner with other local businesses for cross-promotion, events, and shared success.

Invest in the community (sponsorships, participation, service) knowing that the community will invest back in you.

Success is never easy, but we believe that when one local business thrives, we all thrive. Around here, a rising tide really does lift all boats.

For local residents, #EmbraceTheLocal is a daily invitation.

Shop local first. Before clicking “buy now” online or driving down the hill, ask: “Is there someone up here who offers this?”

Know your businesses. Learn the names behind the counters and logos — they’re your neighbors.

Participate. Come to events, follow local businesses on social media, share their posts, bring friends to town.

It’s about making our communities stronger, friendlier, and more resilient by supporting the people who keep the lights on along Highway 108.

For visitors and part-time residents, #EmbraceTheLocal is how you experience our area like an insider.

Try the mom-and-pop café instead of the chain.

Book the local inn or B&B.

Join in on community events instead of just passing through.

Ask a shop owner what they love about the area — and follow their suggestions.

You don’t have to live here full-time to feel like you belong here. Embracing the local is how you plug into the real character of our area.

For the Chamber, #EmbraceTheLocal guides how we operate.

Local-first vendors and partners whenever practical (printers, caterers, venues, service providers).

Programs and events designed to drive traffic to local businesses, not away from them.

Communications that highlight the business community at every turn — not just the Chamber as an organization.

A mindset that asks, “Does this help our local businesses thrive?” before we commit to a project.

If an initiative doesn’t ultimately support local business and community life, it doesn’t fit into our philosophy.

For everyone in the Twain Harte and Highway 108 area, whether you’re a business, long-time local, or a first-time visitor, #EmbraceTheLocal should feel like:

You’re welcome here.

You’re part of something smaller, friendlier, and more personal than a big box strip mall.

Your choices matter to the businesses and people who live and work here.

You can slow down, look around, and say…

“These are my people, this is my place — at least for today.”
